Xmas Eve 1914 programme
This selection of items is drawn from the McNab Troopship Journals Collection. In 1915, City Librarian Mr W. B. McEwan began calling for donations of magazines published on troopships bound for World War I. McEwan recognised that these publications represented a significant reflection of the attitudes and mood of men heading off to war, and a record of life on board troop transports, that may not be preserved in any other way. In time the collection grew to include material published at sea, in military hospitals and camps, and on active service and now includes publications from World War II and the South African War as well.
